VPN working checklist.

Use this checklist before and after connecting to your VPN. It helps spot public IP, DNS, IPv6 and route problems.

Check your public IPv4 before connecting: curl -4 https://ifconfig.me Connect to your VPN and run the IPv4 check again. The result should change. Check IPv6 separately: curl -6 https://ifconfig.me Check DNS resolver behaviour with resolvectl status or your platform DNS settings. Run a DNS lookup and compare results using DNSNow. Check route behaviour with ip route on Linux. Test the browser you actually use, not just the VPN app status screen. Retest after changing VPN server, protocol or DNS settings.
